I create powerful mixed-media artworks that honor Black life, ancestral legacy, and the ongoing fight for justice. My practice spans collage, sculpture, assemblage, and installation, often incorporating archival photographs, textiles, flowers, rusted metal, and found objects. Each element is intentionally sourced and layered to reclaim stories that have been ignored, fragmented, or erased by history.
My work explores themes such as identity, displacement, the weight of generational trauma, and the beauty and resilience embedded in Black communities. I draw from personal lineage and collective memory, using the material language of land, spirit, and everyday objects to bridge the past with the present.
My visual narratives confront social injustices—including gun violence, racism, and the policing of Black bodies—while simultaneously uplifting joy, femininity, birth, spirituality, and cultural pride. Through her series Ancestral Call, Heavy and Loaded, Berth-Her, and They Don’t Know Who We Be, Scott positions art as both a memorial and a declaration of existence.
As an artist-educator deeply rooted in community, I create work that invites viewers to reflect, to remember, and to engage in collective healing. My artistry stands as a testament to survival—bold, unapologetic, and filled with truth.
