The Divine Feminine is a celebration of the creativity and heavenly nature of the Black Woman. This group exhibition showcases contemporary artists, all exploring notions of history, place, universality, and the power of feminine intuition. Through images, symbols, and forms, we are invited into the creative splendor of the Black feminine imagination.
The Divine Feminine woman is the cradle of civilization, and the giver of life as we know it. Fully supported, she effortlessly harnesses the power to unlock dimensions that have the potential to elevate the whole of humanity. It is an honor to display the works of her innermost creations, so that others can be moved to explore the depths of their own Divinity within. We proudly present…The Divine Feminine.

As a former dancer I wanted to make art that felt fluid and multi dimensional. I am certain that standing in front my work over a period of will cause one to see and feel something completely different than viewing the work at first glance.
I began my paper mosaics journey as a young girl and throughout my world travels, I’ve collected paper.
As a story teller, each piece I create reveals the truth of my world as I experience it.

Lavett Ballard
My work was born from the Virginia log cabin that held generations, of my family. As a child I spent summers surrounded by rooms with old framed photos of relatives that chronicled my family hanging off rusty nails in wood grained walls. This experience helped to subliminally foster an interest in visual storytelling. The idea of fusing the wood that surrounded those summers of my youth and my strong affinity for imagery and history has led me to focus on creating a visual lexicon of African American, female, self-identity.

My mixed-media artwork is comprised of a variety of painting techniques and paper collage. Each piece is a reflection of my experience as a multicultural, multiracial woman, illustrating my blended cultures of West Africa and the United States. My creations tell stories of identity and humankind, and is full of concepts that shape the individuality of black people today, as I explore black feminine identity intertwined with West African and American history and how it co-exists in our present day.

Bria Murphy
Where did we come from? This existential question has become a fascination of mine. Opening up my mind to the infinite possibilities has also expanded my imagination in ways I never expected. Through layers and contrast, this series reflects my own conclusion. Origin is a dedication and a reminder to people; remember how miraculous you are. - Bria Murphy Xavier
Bria Murphy Xavier was born in Sacramento, California in 1989. With a life long passion for art, Bria began her professional career as a painter in 2017. Drawing from an enthusiasm for Ancient Astronaut Theory and a devotion to women empowerment, Bria paints portraits of regal, celestial beings that evoke power and remembrance, while also illustrating constellations from the Universe in their bodies.
