My work brings forth the Black woman’s voice through my framework of Black Artistic Thought. Black Artistic Thought is the creative process behind works of art originating from the lived experiences of Black women artists and thinkers, as we demonstrate our ability to express the spiritual in multidisciplinary forms. While Black women artists lay the foundation for my framework, Black Artistic Thought is inclusive and aims to engage a broader audience in conversations about the spiritual.

Using this framework, my work expands on the interconnectedness of thought and production, granting access to spiritual revelations through diverse artistic practices. Light and shadows are incorporated in my work to ignite the idea that the spiritual exists in many forms. Inspired by the way light illuminates the world, my work explores the multifaceted ways the spiritual is expressed as I draw from personal experiences, experimental artistic approaches, and different cultural creative practices. Through this synthesis, my work is about finding and sharing that light, illuminating places where it might be overlooked.

Dedicated to social and cultural artivism (art + activism), my work invites viewers to connect with their own ideas of ways to express the spiritual while challenging traditional notions of what it means to operate with a spiritual consciousness when engaging with art.
