JENNIA FREDRIQUE APONTE
Fresh from a sold-out debut at AKAA in Paris last year, Jennia Fredrique Aponte brings three works from her acclaimed series The Clockwork Academy to Atlanta. Set within a reimagined nineteenth-century academy, the series gives form to histories that may have existed beyond the archive, where Black brilliance reshapes science, invention, and culture while centering ingenuity, beauty, and possibility. Aponte’s masterful mixed-media practice has earned growing recognition, including a recent group exhibition at Sotheby’s Los Angeles and selection as a featured artist in the Los Angeles Lakers’ In the Paint program for two consecutive years.

JONATHAN BARBER
Jonathan Barber is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores power, labor, capitalism, heroism, and Black male identity. Born and raised in Oklahoma, Barber uses the recurring figure of the horse as both symbol and protagonist, drawing connections between history, aspiration, spectacle, and the Black body. Working primarily in soft pastel, his richly layered compositions merge historical imagery with contemporary visual culture and the rhythmic language of hip-hop. A runner-up in Art Melanated’s inaugural SAVAGE Emerging Artist Competition, Barber creates arresting images that challenge how Black masculinity is seen, celebrated, and consumed.
DEVIN WESLEY
Devin Wesley is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores Black identity, masculinity, style, and self-determination. In this series, Wesley pays homage to three defining eras of fashion and the role Black men played in shaping them, reflecting the distinct cultural identity and social conditions of each period. His portraits consider fashion as more than personal style, but as a language through which Black men have asserted identity, resistance, and belonging. Winner of Art Melanated’s inaugural SAVAGE Emerging Artist Competition, Wesley was recently recognized by the NAACP Orange County with its Advocacy Award.
