Q. What is the SAVAGE Emerging Artist Competition?
A. SAVAGE is Art Melanated’s inaugural initiative supporting rising artists across the diaspora. Finalists receive visibility, mentorship, and the opportunity to exhibit during LA Art Week.
Q. Who can apply?
A. Emerging artists 18+ working in any visual art medium. We welcome submissions from artists who are in the early phase of their careers, those who have not yet had a major solo exhibition at a museum, are not currently represented by a major gallery, and who are still building national visibility.
Q. Is there an application fee?
A. Yes, the application fee is $35.
Q. How are finalists selected?
A. An esteemed panel of curators, artists, collectors, and art professionals review submissions based on artistic vision, originality, craft, and cultural impact.
Q. What do finalists receive?
A. Finalists exhibit their work during LA Art Week, receive promotional support across the Art Melanated network, and are considered for future opportunities within our ecosystem. One winner will be awarded a $10,00 grant.
Q. Where is the exhibition held?
A. The SAVAGE exhibition will be held at Band of Vices, located at: 1700 S Santa Fe Ave Suite 371, Los Angeles, CA 90021. It will run from Feb 14 - Mar 14, 2026.
Q. Is the opening reception free?
A. Yes. The opening reception is free and open to the public. VIP access will be available for members, sponsors, and special invited guests.

Q. What is the Black Art Empowerment Summit?
A. A full-day gathering during LA Art Week uniting artists, collectors, gallerists, curators, and culture-shapers for conversations on the business of art and the future of Black creativity.
Q. Where will the Summit be held?
A. The Summit will take place at the W Hollywood Hotel.
Q. Do I need a ticket?
A. Yes. Summit Passes are required for entry. Capacity is limited.
Q. What does my ticket include?
A. Access to all panels, conversations, continental breakfast, networking lunch, and Summit programming.
Q. Is the Summit open to everyone?
A. Yes. Artists, collectors, students, and anyone interested in the cultural conversation around Black art are welcome.
Q. Is food provided?
A. Yes. Tickets include a continental breakfast and a buffet style lunch.
Q. Will sessions be recorded?
A. Yes. The Summit will be recorded for future editorial and recap content. Attendees may appear in event footage.
Q. How do I become a sponsor?
A. You can inquire through the Sponsorship page in the app. Sponsorships support programming, artist access, and our community initiatives.
Q. Is there parking?
A. Parking is available at the W Hotel and nearby lots. Parking fee is not included with summit ticket. Rideshare is recommended due to LA Art Week traffic.
Q. What should I bring?
A. Your ticket confirmation, a photo ID, and an openness to connect, learn, and engage with the community.
