Reflections, 2024

Reflections
by Peyton, the Artist             $11,500

In Peyton's painting entitled, "Reflections", a realistic image of Stevie's face is portrayed piercing through a background of very bright gold and white piano keys, which she chose to paint using 24k gold foil and pigments sourced from Venice, Italy, aka "The City of Gold".

The flat and sharp keys are painted in gold instead of black to represent the spirit of regality that enters the keys at Stevie’s touch. The natural keys remain white as the balance to the sound, the lyric, and visual portrait of the music that is being manifested from his mind’s eye to the outside world. As Stevie’s face pierces through the keys, only the top rim of his signature silver framed sunglasses, his nose, cheekbones, mustache, and radiant bright smile can be seen.

This depiction represents the soul of Stevie in the piano. As the keys could've been painted in clean & crisp lines like one knows the piano to be designed, Peyton chose to blend the lines with brush strokes, pulling away, and moving into his face, just as his music does our souls. Thus, the imagery of only portions of his face are seen. This ebb and flow of the color exchange allows the viewer to focus on the written lyrics that can be seen in the reflection of his cold black sunglass lenses. The lyrics, painted in 24k gold, are written in old Roman Numeral font, and are specific stanzas from some of Stevie’s most introspective songs. In his right lens, the first verse, “Have I lived to see the milk and honey
land?”, from his song, Visions, is the question, and the reflective prophesy of what our society is currently living. Beneath that lyric is, “Did you know that life has given love a guarantee” from his song, As. This line is so profound, “as” Stevie asks, and answers the question of our souls regarding pure, eternal love; a love that can only be promised by God through surrender. At the top of his left lens is the lyric, “Have we really gone this far through space and time? ” also from
his song, Visions. This line, again challenges the listener to think, and re-think, the duality of the matrix and reality in which we live. From his song, As, Peyton placed the final lyric of this piece, “Did you know that true love asks for nothing?” Again, Stevie's lyrical genius answers the question within the question about true love. Our acceptance of her is our payment.

This collaboration of Stevie’s thought provoking “reflections” are God's revealing brush strokes that have been written on the hearts of every man. Man has been in search of the answers to these questions since the beginning of time, but Peyton believes through personal experience, that they will only be revealed through total submission to God, who is the architect of our souls, and the Master of our futures. She believes that Stevie knows the same.
